The Motocross Top Five that was posted is still valid. It's no secret that if you’re not in superb physical condition, you wont last long out on the track. Getting and maintaining it, is the challenge. I've posted something new for you to try and I’m guaranteeing it will improve your overall conditioning.
Swimming, that’s right, no stress on the joints, not hard to do and its works. Last fall I started swimming in a lap pool in the health club. I did this just to try and get my money’s worth out of the price of the membership. As first, all I could manage was a lap or two, then when I seen these older folks were lapping me like I was standing still, I took it as a challenge. I was doing more laps and I was getting smoother and more efficient at it too.
During this time, I still rode the local mx track and I noticed I was out on the track a lot longer than I’m accustomed to. At first I thought it was because I was having a good day or the track was smooth. But, I was still hauling on a rough track and in the heat and I was chasing down riders every lap. What you need to know is swimming improves and increases your lung capacity and by swimming efficiently you learn how to control your breathing. One little hiccup in the pool and I was gasping for air, but after awhile I learned how to breath and it transferred over to my riding. Try and incorporate it into your program and you will see some great results.
Now, being into fitness I’m always involved in lifting, spinning, running, swimming and whatever else I think will keep me on the bike longer. I took some fitness classes to earn credits to keep my spinning certificate and one of the classes was a Kettle bell class. It was awesome and kicked my butt. I liked it right away and wanted more. It was about a year later that I tried it again and this time I joined a local Kettle bell gym. Not just any gym, it is a Punch Kettle bell Gym and its more than just a workout, its killer and will make you feel like you just pulled 30 seconds on the Greatest of all Time-GOAT. It’s like circuit training on fire. We do Swings, renegade pushups, then ropes, squats, getups, its crazy. It’s strength, agility, balance, and cardio all in one workout. I haven’t been on the bike since its winter here but I know, I feel great and this has to help me. I’ll know come spring and when I do, I’ll post my thoughts. Look for online for Punch Gym near you and give it a try. Let me know.
